Juanita Arias is the proud mother of three young adults and an experienced educator who has thrived in both national and international schools in Bogotá. She has a successful track record in pedagogical, administrative, and leadership positions. By combining her knowledge in political science with educational training, she has experience in creating and implementing curricula that challenge and motivate students to fully develop their personal ethics and passion for learning. Her postgraduate studies in English as a Second Language also provide a particular emphasis on the development of English language skills in all the schools where Juanita has worked. She is committed to establishing a team ethic, promoting international standards, and consolidating a healthy, growth-oriented pedagogy. For Juanita, a strong sense of community is essential, and she goes to great lengths to unite parents, teachers, and children through a genuine ‘open door’ policy and a hands-on approach.
Her educational philosophy is supported by constructivist principles, encouraging students to engage actively in their learning through observation, inquiry, questioning, creation, or experimentation. This approach helps students become the active center of their academic, social, and behavioral growth. This method, enriched by project/activity-based learning and the development of interdisciplinary skills, naturally aligns with La Colina's pedagogical approach.
